What information is needed for a Vacaville business license application?
To complete your Vacaville business license, you may need to obtain certain tax information, depending on your ownership type. If you are part of a corporation, a partnership, or a limited liability corporation, you may need to contact the IRS for a FEIN (federal employer’s ID number). If you own your business solely, you will need to provide your social security number. You may be required to obtain a state ID number as well. Your business will need to have a physical address, in addition to a mailing address if they are different. You will need to provide all contact information for your business, including a website, a fax number, and a phone number. All current contact information (home address and phone number), social security number, driver’s license number, date of birth, and name of the business owner(s) needs to be submitted. If you plan to hire employees for your business or if your business is rental-based, you will need to declare the number of each.
You will also need to declare whether you are operating a home-based business and its estimated annual income, whether you will be selling firearms, and if your business is located downtown. Two emergency contact names and phone numbers will need to be provided along with any alarm company information. When you have completed your application, you will sign it to verify that you have provided only true and accurate information, and that you will comply with all codes, laws, and regulations associated with operating a business. It will then be returned to the Finance Division with a check made payable to The City of Vacaville.
Are you a contractor doing business in Vacaville?
You will need to provide a contractor’s license number and any applicable information. If you are not a licensed contractor, you may only do handyman work and are limited to a fee per job, including all material and labor.
You need to contact the Community Development Department to obtain an application for a home occupation permit. Alternatively, the application is available to be filled in and printed online at the City of Vacaville website. The home occupation permit application is a three-page document that outlines the definition and restrictions of operating a home occupation and includes a space to describe your business activities and a permit questionnaire. Some of the restrictions associated with operating a home business include not advertising your business outwardly, only 20% of your total floorspace can be dedicated to your home business, no clients shall visit your residence to procure goods or products from your business, only occasional postal deliveries will be made to your business, etc. The questionnaire includes questions that pertain to the use of your home as a business, the business activities that you plan to conduct, etc. You will need to provide a signature that certifies that you have read and will agree to comply with all regulations and restrictions set forth in operating a home business.
