Are you planning to open a business in El Cajon, California?

Anyone wishing to do business in the City of El Cajon must first procure a business license. If you conduct business from your home, or if you own a business outside the city limits, but plan to preform services inside the city, you will still need to obtain a El Cajon business license. You can request a El Cajon business license application at the City of El Cajon Business License Division, 200 Civic Center Way, El Cajon, CA 92020 or you can print one from the City of El Cajon website. You can fill out your application before printing, but will not be able to save it, so you must be able to fill it in completely. You must sign and date the application by hand, and then mail or hand-deliver your application to City of El Cajon Business License Division, 200 Civic Center Way, El Cajon, CA 92020.

What information will you be expected to provide for your business license application?

Your business license application must be filled in accurately and completely with information such as the name and physical address of your proposed business, your business mailing address and phone contact information. You may, depending on what your business activities include. For example, if you are serving alcohol, you will need to contact the Alcohol Beverage Control at (619) 525-4064. If you plan to hire employees, you will need to contact the IRS for a Federal Employer’s ID number and/or the California Employment Development Department for your State Employer ID number. You may need a Health Permit if you plan to handle food or hazardous materials.
