Are you planning to open a business in Pomona, California?

Pomona city code states that anyone who conducts a business in the city limits will be required to apply for and be issued a business license. You can apply for your business license by visiting the Business License counter at 505 South Garey Avenue, on the first floor of City Hall. They can be contacted by phone at (909) 620-2343. 

Will you be operating your business from your home?

You will need to apply for a home occupation permit from the Planning Department. You can review this application online at the City of Pomona website, or you can contact them by phone at (909) 620-2191 to request that one be sent to you. This brief application consists mainly of ‘yes or no’ questions pertaining to your business activities and how you plan to use your home to conduct your business. Questions that are answered with a ‘yes’ must be fully explained. Some of the questions include whether you will have to remodel any part of your home for your business to operate, if you will display advertisements  for your business, if you plan to hire employees outside of your family, etc. You will need to read and  be familiar with the Pomona Home Occupation Ordinance 3623 and be in compliance with all conditions that it outlines for those who operate a home business.
