Do You Wish to Marry in North Miami, Florida?

You will need a marriage license which is issued by the Marriage License Bureau of Miami-Dade County.  You will need to make a trip with your intended spouse to the location most convenient to you to apply in person for your marriage license.  If you choose, you may also have a civil marriage ceremony preformed by the Clerk of Courts or the Deputy Clerk of Courts at a cost of $30.00.  You will need to make an appointment by contacting the Clerk of Courts by calling 305-275-1155 or by going onto theNorth Miami Marriage License where there is a page specified for making marriage appointments.  You can visit any Miami-Dade County Courthouse and apply for your marriage license and be married between the hours of 9:00am and 3:30pm, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. 

Will You Be Required to Wait to Marry?

Non-Florida residents are not required to observe a three day waiting period to marry in Florida, nor are couples that have completed a marriage preparedness course which is offered in the community.  If a couple has completed one of the four-hour courses, they will need to bring a certificate of completion and/or sign an affidavit at the time that they apply for their marriage license, and they will be excused from the waiting period.  Florida residents who choose to opt out of the courses are required to wait for three days after receiving their marriage license.  If you have questions concerning the three-day wait, contact the Clerk of Courts Marriage License Bureau by calling (305)275-1155. 

What Are Premarital Preparation Courses?

Premarital preparation classes are offered throughout the community by various providers to help prepare couples for their life together as a married couple.  The course is four hours long.  You can find a list of providers online on the Miami-Dade County website.  Be aware that some course providers may charge for their course, and that the expense is to be paid by you.  When you have completed the course, you will receive a certificate of completion which will be needed when you apply for your marriage license.  Completing the course will entitle you to waive the three-day waiting period and you will also be given a discount of $32.50 for your marriage license fees.

What Is the Cost of a Marriage License in North Miami, Florida?

A marriage license fee of $93.50 is to be paid at the time of application for a marriage license.  If both parties of the couple wishing to be married have completed a marriage preparation course, the cost of their marriage license is reduced to $61.00.  All fees for marriage licenses, civil ceremonies and any marriage license copies, photos, etc will need to be paid upon applying for a marriage license.  You can pay for a marriage license with cash, money order, or credit card.  Checks are not accepted at any location for a marriage license.

Are Minors Permitted to Marry in North Miami, Florida?

Minors under that age of 18, but over the age of 16 can marry with parental permission and a birth certificate that has the names of both parents.  If either or both parents are deceased or if one parent has sole custody of the minor wishing to marry, documentation must be provided.  If the minor who wishes to marry is under that age of 16, in addition to proper identification, and parental consent, both the parties applying for a marriage license must be able to prove that they are the parents of, or are expectant parents of a chile together.  A pregnancy must be verified by a physician.  If the minor has been married previously, there is no need for any additional documentation, or parental permission.

Are There Other Necessary Forms or Paperwork to Provide for a North Miami, FL Marriage License?

When you apply for your marriage license, you will need to bring a photo ID and if you have been issued a social security card, you will need to provide that as well.  If you have been previously married, the exact date and manner of your marriage termination will need to be listed.  On your marriage license, you will be expected to supply the date of your birth, along with the county you were born in and your address.  If you have any questions regarding your marriage license, you may contact the Miami-Dade Marriage License Bureau by calling 305-275-1155, by visiting any of the locations of the Miami-Dade Clerk of Courts or by looking online on the North Miami Marriage License
