What Costs Can You Expect to Incur for a Miami Beach, FL Marriage License?

The cost of a marriage license in Miami Beach is $93.50.  If you and your fiancé/e have attended and completed a marriage preparedness course, the cost is reduced to $61.00.  You can find a list of providers of premarital preparation courses online on the Miami Beach Marriage License.  There may be additional costs for the class, which you will be responsible for paying.  If you choose to have a civil ceremony at a Miami-Dade courthouse, there will be an additional fee of $30.00.  If you choose a civil ceremony, you can make an appointment by using the appointment maker online on Miami Beach Marriage License.  All marriage license (and additional fees) can be paid by cash, money order or credit card; however, no personal checks are accepted at any of the locations of the Clerk of Courts of Miami-Dade County.

Can Minors Obtain a Marriage License in Miami Beach, Florida?

Minors under the age of 18, but over the age of 16 can apply for a marriage license if both the parents of any minor are present at the time of application.  The only exception to this condition is if one or both parents are deceased or if one parent has been granted full custody of the minor.  If either of these exceptions apply to the minor, proof by way of a death certificate or a original custody order will need to be provided to the Clerk of Courts.  If the minor wishing to marry is under the age of 16, both parties must swear, under oath, that they are the parents of a child or are expectant parents together.  If the child has been born, a birth certificate must be provided and in the event of a pregnancy, a physician’s verification must be included with the other paperwork.  If the minor(s) wishing to marry have been previously married, they may apply without any consent or paperwork other than that which is necessary to marry.

Is There a Waiting Period for Marrying in Miami Beach, Florida?

Each couple that is a resident of Florida will be required to observe a three-day waiting period after receiving their marriage license to be married.  If a couple is not residents of the state of Florida, or if they have both completed a premarital preparation course, the three-day waiting period will be waived. 

What Information is Required to Apply for a Marriage License?

When you apply for your marriage license, the following information will be required of both parties:

  • • Number of previous marriages and the manner that any previous marriage was terminated (divorce, death or annulment)
