Are You Planning to Open a Business in Davie, Florida?

If you wish to operate a business in Davie, you will need to obtain a business tax receipt from the Business Tax Division.  The Business Tax Division is located at 6591 Orange Drive in Davie.  If you prefer, you may print a business tax receipt application packet from the City of Davie website.  In addition to your business tax receipt application, you will need to submit supplemental documents to be issued your business license. 

Some of these documents include a letter that describes your business activities in detail; a floor plan with your business location address, name and dimensions; a copy of your fictitious name certification; an affidavit of your inventory if your business activities include wholesaling or retail; if applicable, an alcoholic beverage license, a copy of your state license, contractor’s information; the type of business that previously at your business location; and a notarized inspection form.

What Information is Necessary on Your Davie Business Tax Receipt Application?

You will need to provide information regarding your business location, your business activities, the ownership of your business (single owner, LLC, corporation, or partnership), and the business owner(s).  Each owner or corporate officer will need to have all contact information submitted on the application.  Depending on the ownership type, and whether you plan to hire employees, you may need to contact the IRS for a federal employer’s tax ID number, or you may need to supply your social security number if you are the only employee and/or owner. 

Provide the number of full and part time employees that you plan to hire, the square footage of your business location, and any office or warehouses associated with your business.  You will also need to supply the name of your business, the physical and mailing address and all phone numbers that are used in association with your business. 

Be sure to sign and date your application for a business tax receipt.  When you have completed your application, you will need to fill out the supplemental forms that are included in your application packet.  Some of these forms include a business tax receipt inspection form which is used to gather information on your business location, such as the name, phone numbers and physical address of your business, as well as the square footage of your business and all owner contact information. 

This application is to set up an inspection of your business premises, and it will need to be notarized by a notary public.  You will also need to file an affidavit of inventory if your business activities include any retail or wholesale.  This affidavit also outlines the fees that you will be responsible for paying depending on your inventory values.  Lastly, there is a business update survey for the Davie Police Department.  It collects the basic information about your business that each other form collects, but in addition, it will require that you submit the names and contact information of three persons who can be reached in the event of an emergency at your business location. 

The information needs to be accurate and detailed in the event that you are unreachable, this person may act on your behalf in an emergency.  You will also need to disclose whether you have a security dog, alarm company information, whether you keep lights on at your business overnight and if there is any hazardous material on your business premises.  All of these supplemental forms will need to be returned along with your business tax receipt application when they are all completed with full and accurate information.
