Those that are operating business in Boca Raton will need to have a business tax certificate from the Business Tax Authority of Boca Raton. You can print off an application from the City of Boca Raton website or you can apply in person at 201 West Palmetto Park Road. You will need to return your application in person to the Business Tax Authority. In addition to a business tax license, you will need to contact the City Zoning Office for zoning approval. The application for a Boca Raton business tax certificate is a short, one-page document that collects information about your business and your business activities. The information that you will need to provide includes a business name, a mailing and physical address of your business, and all phone numbers associated with your business. You need to have an additional phone number for an emergency contact number. You will need to provide a brief but detailed description of your business activities as well as information regarding your business location such as the square footage, whether you are going to alter the appearance of the building, the number of units if your business involves rental properties, etc. The hours of operation, and the number if employees you plan to hire will need to be provided. The one-time fee for the application is $28.00. The certificate of use fees and fire inspection fees are initially $45.00 and then $50.00 for each inspection there after, if you fail the first inspections.  Annually, you will incur a cost of $105.00. All business tax fees are due by September 30 and will be subjected to a penalty each month that they are late up to March 1, at which time there will be a 25% fee and additionally $250 will be added to the late fees.
