Do You Plan to Operate a Home Based Business in Skokie?
There is no license or certificate of occupancy required for those that plan to use their home as a location for a business, however, there are certain conditions and regulations that you will need to be in compliance with in order to operate your business. What is the Process For Approving a Certificate of Occupancy Application for the Village of Skokie?
You will need to have a floor plan for your business, a complete application and the signature of both the business owner, as well as the property owner upon submitting your certificate of occupancy application. When you submit your application, it is forwarded through the Building and Zoning staff to be sure that all zoning regulations are met including use of building and parking requirements. If all zoning requirements are met or not, you will be notified within ten business days. If all requirements are in order, you will then set up inspections of your business location. What Other Information Should You Know About Obtaining a Certificate of Occupancy and Business License in Skokie?
Your business license expires each year on April 30. Generally, the Village Manager mails out reminders for renewal three weeks prior to your license expiration, however, not receiving a reminder does not excuse you from renewing your license annually.
