Basic Information
Any business planning to operate in the city of Bellingham is required to be:

1. Registered with the State of Washington ($15 fee)
2. Complete the City of Bellingham Business Registration Application ($40 fee)
3. Be aware of the Business and Occupation Tax as well as any other applicable taxes
4. Obtain a Unified Business Identifier (UBI) number
5. Contact City Hall regarding zoning that may affect your business

What information will I need to fill out the city application?
You will need to have the following information available:

• Name of business and owner(s) contact information
• Start of business date
• State of Washington Unified Business Identifier (UBI) number
• Federal Tax ID number
• Description of business activity
• Social Security Numbers for all corporate officers, owners, or partners
• Emergency contact information
• Amount of estimated gross annual receipts
• List of any regulatory licenses your business is required to have

The completed information, along with a check or money order for the required fees, can be mailed to:
