Basic Information
Any business planning to operate in the city of Bellingham is required to be:
- Registered with the State of Washington ($15 fee)
- Complete the City of Bellingham Business Registration Application ($40 fee)
- Be aware of the Business and Occupation Tax as well as any other applicable taxes
- Obtain a Unified Business Identifier (UBI) number
- Contact City Hall regarding zoning that may affect your business

What information will I need to fill out the city application?
You will need to have the following information available:
- Name of business and owner(s) contact information
- Start of business date
- State of Washington Unified Business Identifier (UBI) number
- Federal Tax ID number
- Description of business activity
- Social Security Numbers for all corporate officers, owners, or partners
- Emergency contact information
- Amount of estimated gross annual receipts
- List of any regulatory licenses your business is required to have
