What steps does Ogden require to obtain a business license?

To apply for a business license, go to the second floor of the Ogden City Municipal Building. Hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday (holidays excluded).

To obtain a Home Occupation License, the following requirements apply:

  • The occupation is restricted to the family members residing in the home.
  • There are no necessary interior or exterior alterations to the home.
  • The property does not use any additional buildings not associated with the home.
  • The business does not involve retail or wholesale activities.
  • There are also additional requirements for businesses serving alcohol. Further, final approval of a beer or alcohol license is reserved by the mayor or his/her designee.

  • How long does the application process take?

    Most business licenses are issued within 30 days of the completed application. For businesses requiring a beer or alcohol license the process may take longer.
