Is there anything else we should know to get our Lawrence marriage certificate?

Yes. It is important to apply for your marriage license at least 4 days before your wedding. The Massachusetts State Law does not allow for a marriage license to be issued until a 3 day wait time, however, if you come later in the day or apply before a weekend or a holiday, you’ll need to make sure that there is a 4 day buffer there.

Only a District Court of Massachusetts can waive this 3 day time period, there will be at least a $200 fee to surpass this wait time. Also, if your wedding ceremony does not happen within 60 days from the date on the marriage certificate, then it will expire and you will have to repeat the process over and pay the fee again.
