General Information

Not all businesses are required to obtain a business license for the city of Anchorage. However, most businesses will need to apply for a State of Alaska Business License. This will be required before any city license can be issued and before transacting any business. The cost of the state license is usually $50 for one year or $100 for two years. If you have are a sole proprietor or age 65 or older the cost is half of the standard fee. Requirements and fees will vary for businesses that are required to have a license or permit within the city limits of Anchorage.

What businesses need to apply for an Anchorage Business License?

The following types of business are required to obtain a City of Anchorage Business License in addition to the state license. How do I apply for a city license if my type of Anchorage business is listed above?

You can either download the application, and mail them (include copy of state business license, specific documentation pertaining to Anchorage city license, and the applicable fees) or deliver them in person (be prepared to have a picture ID, check or cash, copy of the state license, any documentation necessary pertaining to your city license).
