To apply for a business tax certificate, you can visit the City of Simi Valley website and fill the application in and print it. What fees are associated with a Simi Valley business tax certificate?

New business tax certificate fees are based on the estimated annual gross receipts from January 1 through December 31 of the same year. You can expect to pay a fee depending on your gross receipts. If your gross receipts are over $600,000 you will pay an additional fee per $100,000. If your business falls under a flat rate fee schedule, such as a delivery business, a filming business etc, you will pay according to your business. Auto-dealers will have a different fee schedule that will be based on a higher annual gross receipts and therefore, can expect a higher fee with additional cost per thousand dollars over $5,000,000. Your fees are due annually by April 30th. If you do not pay them on time, you can expect to incur a late penalty per month or 10% of  your fees, whichever is greater. The name of your business, the physical and mailing address, and all contact phone numbers will need to be provided. You will need to submit a legal name, home phone number, social security number, date of birth, and valid driver’s license number for all owners of your business. An estimate of your gross annual receipts, legal class (sole proprietor, partnership, corporation, LLC), business type and all contractor and tax ID numbers will need to be provided as well. You will need to supply your business start date, the square footage of your business property, the number of employees working for your business, a business website, and an email address. When you sign your application, you are certifying that you are providing only true and complete information and that all information will be subjected to verification.
