Apply For A Malden Marriage License

How can we apply for our marriage license in the City of Malden, MA?

Make plans for you and your fiancé to go in person to the City of Malden City Clerk’s Office, otherwise you will not be able to receive a marriage license, and thus a valid, legal wedding in the State of Massachusetts. It is important to know that in the State of Massachusetts the marriage license is also known as the Marriage Certificate. The Marriage Intentions Form is the marriage application form and once you have your wedding, the marriage license is called the Marriage Certificate.

What kinds of identification can we use for our Malden marriage license?

It is critical to have the proper identification when you apply, else your marriage license application or your Marriage Intentions Form will be rejected. If you chose to use a birth certificate you also must bring a photo I.D. of some kind to prove that it is you.

The City of Malden charges $30 for the marriage certificate, this must be paid at the same time you apply for your marriage license (submit the Marriage Intentions Form). The Marriage Intentions Form is not available online and can only be completed in the presence of a Malden City Clerk. If the office closes and you run out of time, you and your spouse-to-be will have to return at a later date to complete and file the application form.
