If you are marrying in Hialeah, you can print out a pre-application for a marriage license from the website of the County of Miami-Dade.  Once you have completed pre-application, you can return it to the Miami-Dade Marriage License Division located at 140 West Flagler Street in Miami, Suite1503.  You can contact the Miami-Dade Clerk of Courts by calling(305)275-1155. 

Who Can Marry in Hialeah, Florida?

A man and a woman that are both over the age of 18 are permitted to marry in Hialeah, FL.  Those that are under the age of 18 will have to contact the Miami-Dade Clerk of Courts to discuss the requirements that minors must meet before marrying. 

Can I Marry in Hialeah if I Live Outside of the State of Florida or Outside the City of Hialeah, Florida?

Yes, you may marry in the city of Hialeah whether or not you reside inside the city or the state of Florida.  You will still need to apply for a marriage license, and those that live outside the state will not be required to observe the three-day waiting period that Florida residents must observe.  Once you have received your marriage license, you are not bound to the city or county that you applied in to marry.  Your marriage license is valid through the entire state of Florida.

What Are Premarital Preparation Courses and are They Required of Those Wishing to Marry in Hialeah, FL?

Marriage preparation courses are offered throughout the community and you can find providers of these courses online on the County of Miami-Dade website.  No couple is required to attend these courses, but they are recommended.  The courses are approximately four hours in length and are considered useful for couples adjusting to married life.  If you wish to attend the courses, you will not be required to adhere to the mandatory three-day waiting period to marry, and you may also receive a discount on the costs of your wedding fees. 

How Much are Hialeah Marriage License Fees?

Marriage license fees are dependent on whether a couple can produce a completion certificate of a premarital preparation course.  If a couple has opted out of the classes or cannot produce a certificate of completion, the cost of a marriage license is $93.50.  If a couple can prove they have completed a marriage preparedness course, the cost of a marriage license is $61.00.  If a couple wishes to have a marriage ceremony preformed by a clerk of courts, the cost of the ceremony will be an additional $30.00.  Please note that the costs of a premarital preparation course are not included in any of these fees, nor is the cost of wedding photos (when a ceremony is preformed by a county clerk) or the costs of certifying a marriage license.  The costs for a marriage license are non-refundable, in most cases.

How Long Will I Have to Marry Once I Receive My Marriage License In Hialeah, FL?

Once you have received your marriage license, it is valid for 60 days.  If you have not married within 60 days of receiving your marriage license, it will expire and if you wish to marry, another application for a marriage license must be made.

Will I Need Additional Paperwork or Identification When Applying for a Hialeah Marriage License?

You will need at least one form of ID when you are applying for a marriage license in Hialeah.  The forms of ID that are acceptable include a valid state issued driver’s license, a valid state issued ID card, a passport, a military ID, a social security or INS card, etc.  If either party has been previously married, they will need to provide a date of the marriage termination, as well as the manner in which the marriage ended (death, divorce or annulment).
